New Years Resolutions for Kids
Posted: 11th January 2012 by Sandi in Moms UncensenoredTags: chores, eating healthier, healthy living, New Year Resolutions, respect, school
It may sound strange to think about helping your kids create New Years Resolutions. But if you think about it, it is the beginning of teaching them how to set goals for themselves. Teaching your child how to set goals will help them in the future and into adulthood. Here are a few ideas when helping your child establishes New Years Resolutions.
I will start eating healthier: Try eating one fruit and one vegetable a day. Limit your sugar intake and maybe give up sugary drinks all together. Drink more water and Milk and try new foods every chance you get.
I will take better care of my Body: I will brush my teeth everyday and after meals. I will wash my face and cut my nails weekly. Maybe I will wash my hands more often and cover my mouth when I cough.
I will complete my chores daily: Helping around the houses helps mom and dad and frees up more time for the family to spend together. Make your bed, put things away and complete your chore chart daily.
I will work hard in School: Going to school is like going to work for mom and dad. I will be organized, complete my homework and I will ask for help when I need it. I will work hard to make the best grades possible.
I will respect others and my things: I will remember to say Thank you, Excuse Me, Please and No Thank You. I will not use cuss words and I will always take care of my things, since it is polite to respect my property.
I will practice safety: I will follow my parent’s rules and not talk to strangers. I will not give out personal information on the internet. I will avoid kids who are a bad influence and practice my family’s values.
I will learn to save more and spend less: This year I will put more money in my piggy bank. I will put more of my chore money in the bank, split or put all of my birthday money in the bank and save for Items I may want.
I will play less video game and play more outside: I will enjoy my video games and tv but I will limit my time watching. I will go outside and explore, play with friends and discover my surroundings. I will play age appropriate games and say no to violent video games and shows.
I will get more exercise: I will ride my bike, take a walk, and play on the jungle gym. I will do jumping jacks and challenge my friends to a relay race. I will build muscle and lose fat so I can be healthy for years to come.
What ever goals your child sets, encourage them and help them become successful. If you think about each year thousands if not millions of use set New Years Resolutions and all of them are put into place to help use become better. Do it together and enjoy the time spent improving your well being.
Last minute shoppers…. Become.com is your life saver!
Posted: 22nd December 2011 by Sandi in ReviewsTags: Become.com Review, Christmas, Christmas gifts, Last minute Shopping, Shopping
If you’re like the majority of people out there (Me), you still have a few friends and loved ones left on your holiday list. Fear-not I just found Become.com an easy online shopping website that helps you compare items and find the best prices. It’s a one stop shop for those last minute gifts!
My best friend just started a new job and I wanted to buy her a trendy lunch bag for her to carry her lunch to work. It had to be trendy, hip and stylish, not a boring square tote. While searching for lunch bags I was directed to the stylish lunchbags for women category. What an array of choices, I never knew there where
so many brands and styles to choose from. There was various companies offering choices like Endless, Overstock, and Vera Bradley and best of all I found a KOKO Sadie lunch bag in denim for an additional 20% off, you can’t beat that… Score!
I was on a roll and looking for my next deal! With a new little one joining our family mid January I was excited to see what they had in baby clothes. I started searching through the site and found monkey baby stuff, so darn cute everything monkey! I found an adorable “just arrived” monkey bodysuit and several other monkey items. The best part was they where all in stock and affordable.
Now for my brother, he is so difficult to shop for. He’s always working and traveling so when I am looking for him I always try to find something practical, that way I know he will use it. His work requires him to be on his feet a lot so I thought a new pair of work boots might be nice, browsing for shoes lead me to Maine wood boots. I found a pair of L.L. Bean Maine hunting shoes comfortable for work or play. I know he’s going to love them.
Shopping at Become.com is easy to navigate, I save time and gas because I am not driving around comparing
prices, when I find what I am looking for I click to place my order and my presents are on their way. I will definitely be using this site again…..

You will lose weight!
Let me tell you, being in a hot room for an hour and 20 minutes your going to sweat! At first I thought I was going to die and I live in Arizona
so I know hot. However, you get used to it. Sweating helps you get rid of unwanted toxins and your skin looks wonderful from all that cleansing. I read that the sweat you produce in hot yoga is 5x more than an hour of jogging. That’s great news since I spend a lot of
time laying on my mat

Flexibility:
Okay, anything that makes you stand on one foot or twist into a pretzel is going to give you more flexibility. I am in my forties and I have seen a great improvement in my flexibility (ask my hubby). Seriously, yoga works all the joints in your body and ones you haven’t used in sometime. So, if I can avoid getting stiff in my old age, then it’s worth the heat.
Sleep:
The first week I took Yoga, I could not sleep. My body awakened and it was super charged. Now that I have been practicing a little longer I have noticed I am much calmer. My sleep patterns are stable and I wake up each morning feeling rested and ready for the day.
Friendship:
Yoga is the go to place. It’s like marketing on steroids. It’s great for networking, making new friends and learning about community resources. During your practice it is quite and it’s about you and only you. But you open the doors and the halls are a buzz, a great support system and everyone needs that when you’re trying to lose weight or improve your heath.
Posture:
With all the different positions and stretching in yoga your posture is for sure going to improve. Yoga elongates your muscles, your instructor helps with your form and it becomes second nature.
I recommend trying Hot Yoga it’s worth the sweat!
Tell us your favorite Yoga Poses.
Things that make you laugh…. Duck Tape Trouble
Posted: 29th November 2011 by Sandi in Moms UncensenoredWhen my son was three Hercules the movie had just come out. O’ how my son loved that Movie, we had to watch it over and over and when we were not watching the movie he was pretending to be Hercules and would repeat every scene from the movie. He even had the sound track from the movie and when we would get into the car we always had to pop in the cassette and sing along
(this was before Radio Disney).
Since he was our first we would go to great lengths to give him everything. So, when McDonalds started carrying Hercules toys in their Happy Meals, you know we had to collect them all. But wait, that’s not all, they also had collector plates! So, between the plates and the toys my husband and I went to several different McDonalds bartering and trading our way to a complete set of toys and plates. I can not tell you how many Happy Meals I took back to the office, boy where those great lunches.
To say the least my son was obsessed with the movie and then he fell in love with Meg. He had every character figure from the Disney store. So suddenly he was carrying Meg around not Hercules. He would tell me he loved her and was going to marry her when he got older. I thought how cute and thought nothing much of it.
So, one day from preschool he asked to have his new friend over. This boy’s parents agreed but gave me strict instructions on what their child was allowed to do and eat due to their religious beliefs. I told them no problem and off the boy’s went to have a great day. At the end of the day when the mother came over to pick up her son, I told her how much fun the boys had and that we would have to get them together again. No sooner did I say this when my son and his friend came out of the room with Meg and Hercules. Meg was tied up with duck tape. Her hands behind her back, tape across her body and mouth, wearing no clothes.
We both looked at them and I thought to myself what on earth are they doing. But it was the mother of the other child who spoke first. Her eyes got big and she said “what are you boys doing”! My son replied” we tied her up, she’s in trouble. The mom turned to me and said “you know what that is, Bondage” How would your son know about that! I replied there must be an explanation. I asked my son and he explained that Meg has been captured by Hades’ and he had her in smoke chains because she’s a prisoner. The mom of the other child said then why is she naked! My son replied because duck tape made her clothes sticky. I looked at the other mother and she smiled nervously and out the door she went.
Makes you wonder!!!!

Fall Nails!

What colors are in this fall for nails? I usually leave my white tips all year round, mainly because I can get away with a week or two of growth without anyone noticing. However, this year I have decided to go with the trends and put color on my nails.
This fall colors are Mochacio, Chocolate, and other coffee family colors. Personally, I am not a fan of the light mud like color, what are your
thoughts? Other trends are Purples, Reds, Blues and grays. I think I will try some of the dark blues they look edgy and vibrant.
(Video)
What colors will you be wearing this fall/Winter?
Starting today I am going to start showing myself a little more love. I put a lot of effort into taking care of my kids, my husband, my home, our pets and everyone else who needs something from me.
Since November is a great time to give Thanks and December is full of chaos I thought I would find my Mantra a set of words or a phrase that is repeated (Chanted). Buddhist are known for their prayers and meditation techniques. Although I do not practice Buddhism I have practiced Meditation.
Here is a blessing based on the Buddhist loving kindness prayer:
May you be safe and protected from harm.
May you be happy with peace in your heart.
May you be healthy, able, and strong.
May you go easy through sunshine or storm.
I believe each day when I wake up I will repeat this phrase and take a moment to gather myself for the day. I will remind myself of my abilities and how capable I am. Taking the time to be and put myself first will help lower the stress of the upcoming holidays.
Tell us how you can show yourself love in your everyday life. Do you meditate or find a place of quite that helps you?

Do you remember your first perfume?
Posted: 16th November 2011 by Sandi in Hot MammaTags: beauty, Blog, Fragrance, Perfume, Victoria Secrets
Every morning women wake up to our daily beauty regimen before heading out the door. There are some women who are masters of this
routine and get out the door in 30-45 minutes but I am not one of them. I take a full hour, from showering, hair drying/styling, make-up and a few clothing changes I am lucky if I get out the door completely done in that hour. So, like everyday, it was time for the quick perfume spray. I spray my hair, because every time I move my hair you get a subtle smell of my perfume Victoria Secrets “Dream Angel Heavenly” is my favorite fragrance and has been for some time.
Today was different though, for some reason I started thinking about perfume and before you knew it I was heading down memory lane. My first bottle of perfume was Love’s Baby Soft, it came in a glass bottle with a white cap, the color of the perfume was pink and it smelled like baby powder, strawberries and roses. It was a Christmas present and I remember being so grown up. I think back and it was a little strong, but I loved that stuff. There where other perfumes like Heaven Scent, Electric Youth, Exclamation, Poison, Enjoli, Impulse, Obsession, Coco and many more. Remember the commercials promising you danger and sex appeal?
What was your first perfume, name it below?
Grocery Store Savvy, Clip, Click & Save …
Posted: 14th November 2011 by Sandi in Moms UncensenoredTags: Coupons, Discounts, Grocery Shopping, Savings
I love to save money; in fact it is a hobby of mine, saving money. I use spread sheets where I can see month by month what I am spending
and I try each month to beat my previous “record” in lowering what I call flexible spending (electric bill, gas, food, phone, etc.) any bill that can go up or down I personally challenge myself to see if I can get it lower than the previous month.
Groceries are just one area where you have the power to spend wisely. It takes a little bit of planning but after you get the hang of it, it takes no time at all compared to your return, money in your pocket. Why give your hard earned money away to corporations and CEO’s who bank on our
laziness to make them wealthy.
Plan your meals:
Consider making a two week menu, add breakfast, lunch, dinner, nights out, etc. Now before you sit down and write your menus, take inventory of what you already have. Do you have spaghetti noodles, what meats do you have, leftovers? The idea is to save money and avoid wasting food. Then make meals around these items. You will have less to buy and you will avoid throwing away food that was forgotten in the freezer. You can make 6-7 menus and rotate them. It really is a nice feeling to come home and not think “What are we going to have for dinner?” If on Monday I don’t really feel like spaghetti but would rather have tacos, I just skip around on the menu making my menus flexible.
Consider Store Brand:
Store brand items are often just as good as the name brand, a matter of fact these brands are often made by the same companies and there
are little variation to the product itself. Can you say marketing! They cost approximately 27% less and usually have a money back guarantee. I always buy generic cleaning supplies, paper products and cereals. If my family doesn’t like the taste or product we go back to the original brand but a lot of times you can not tell the difference.
Reduced Items:
I purchase reduced meat, produce and bread at close to 50% off original price. The meat department will reduce meat once it hits it’s
“sale by date” However, meat can be frozen up to six month and what sense does it make to pay full price one day before to freeze that same meat. Of course, inspect the packaging and make sure it looks appetizing to you before purchasing. Day old bread works great in recipes or toasted and produce can be used in smoothies, salsas or in sauces without compromising taste.
Use Coupons (Clip):
Clip grocery store coupons from the newspaper, view store fliers and look for manufacture coupons from magazines. Coupon Sense helps you
comparison shop, organize and maximize your grocery shopping, saving you money http://couponsense.com/
Internet Coupons (Click):
You can find so many sites that offer coupons and tools to help you save money at the grocery store. Here are a few I use:
Coupons.com
– Printable coupons, easy to use and I have never had a problem with any of the coupons in the grocery store.
Mambosprouts.com
– Organic and natural products offering recipes, coupons, event listings and more.
Mygrocerydeals.com
– A great site to compare current specials from your local grocers, print coupons, and membership is free.
Convenient Shopping:
Consider shopping online with your local grocery store. Many provide free delivery, special incentives and will take coupons for additional
savings. The nice thing about shopping online is you avoid impulse buying and you save time. It takes a while to get used to it and you have to plan ahead because it takes a day or so for delivery but it is worth a try.
Remember to look at all of your “flexible spending bills” the ones you have control on how much you spend. Example, consider turning up
your thermostat by one degree, turning out lights, and insulating your home to save money. Review your phone/cable and see if you can get a better deal, get rid of channels you don’t watch or use cell phones in place of a landline phones. Go over every bill you have and call each one to see if you can review the account for a better deal or rate, you will be surprised at how willing companies are to retain your business and save you money. Good Luck & have fun saving!
Black Friday Tips!
Posted: 11th November 2011 by Sandi in WTF (Fridays)Tags: Black Friday, Black Friday Sales, Save Money on Black Friday, Thanksgiving Sales, Tips for Black Friday
With the economy still a mess and Americans trying to save money. More people will be out on Black Friday trying to grab all the deals
they can. Black Friday has the reputation of being the busiest shopping day of the year.
What is Black Friday? It is the day after Thanksgiving with the word “Black” meaning making a profit. Stores offer deep price cuts on several items in their store for a limited time or through out the day to encourage customers to shop. The hope of the retailer is that you will come in and not only purchase the deals but other items that may not be on sale. Just because it is Black Friday does not always mean you are getting a great deal, that is why during this shopping spree you should have a clear plan in mind before heading out. Here are a few tips for planning a Black Friday Shopping event.
Grab a friend: I suggest you never go shopping on Black Friday without a friend. You will be out waiting for stores to open early in the morning and sometimes the night before. Always remember safety is important during this time. Make sure someone who is not going shopping with you also knows your plan. If the plan changes give them a call and let them know.
Prepare: Research Black Friday Ads and compare current prices. It is not worth staying up all night for a DVD if you are only saving a $1. Most people shopping Black Friday are looking for large ticket Items such as; Big screen TV’s, DVD Players, X-Boxes/Play stations and laptops. If you
want a toaster sleep in, it’s not worth the time and hassle to save a few dollars. Save all the Black Friday ads from your newspaper or go onto http://www.bfads.net/ to see the latest listing.
The Plan: Okay, now you have your buddy and you have looked over all the Ads and know what you want. Time to make a plan; decide which
store you will go to first, then next and so on. I suggest if a store has a limited number available or only offering the deal for a limited time frame
camp out at that store first. Some stores have their specials going all day so you really don’t have to hit that store first. Here is an example: I was
looking for laptops for my kids at Staples and they had them on sale for $326 w/ a free printer. Each store had a limited supply of them and only one per person. The over all saving would be $460 each laptop. Each store had 10 laptops to give away at that price. I knew I had to be first in line if I was going to get these laptops.
Pick the stores: Plan out which stores you are going to go to. With the laptops I found a Staples that had just opened up in a remote
location, very few people new about this Staples other than those who lived in the area. I decided to camp out at that store. I also had back up stores and addresses in case I had to try another location. This is important, because once they are out everyone heads to the next store until they get their item or lose out on the deal.
What’s next: Time to get up and head out, some people never go to sleep and get inline right after their Thanksgiving dinner. Others go to
sleep, get up and get into line around Midnight. Whatever you decide be prepared. Dress for the weather; bring blankets, folding chairs, book, drinks and snacks. It’s a long wait and it gets very cool early in the morning. Each store manager handles the event in their own way. When I
was at Staples they had donuts and coffee, they gave clear instruction on how they planned on letting people in the store. They also handed out tickets for the limited Items. So, for example I received a ticket for the laptop and so did my partner meaning we were guaranteed a laptop. This also gave others in line an opportunity to get out and head to another store. The manager let in 10 people at a time, letting one person in every time one left. Staples handled Black Friday perfect and it was safe and enjoyable because of it. I suggest avoiding stores that just open the doors and allow people to just run in. This is very dangerous and many people have been hurt. I suggest going to the stores you plan on shopping at and ask them how they are handling letting people in. If they do not have a plan I suggest shopping some where else. Don’t get hurt
trying to save a few dollars!
Other Tips:
One hour before the store opens take your chairs and other belongings to the car.
(One person stays in line while the other puts the stuff away. No one will hold your spot!)
Once the doors open go straight to the item you want most, and then look around for other deals.
Meet your friend outside the store and make sure you pay attention to your surroundings. People have been robbed right outside the store.
Stay safe and remember no deal is worth compromising your health and safety.
Have fun and enjoy it is really a great adventure!

forever to get them to fall asleep. This book is radically honest and so funny because you know you’ve thought it.

“Operation Bombshell” Month
Posted: 26th October 2011 by Sandi in Hot MammaTags: beauty, Bombshell, confidents October, hair style, hot mama, hot mamma, Makeup, women
Hey ladies we all do it, get way to comfortable in our sweats and t-shirts! How things have changed since my 20′s I would take hours putting on my makeup and picking out the right outfit to go to the grocery store. I’m not sure exactly what I was thinking, “I was going to be discovered and whisked away to Hollywood” who knows. However, I looked damn good in the produce department.
Now, life is busy and there are times when I go to the grocery store with a messy ponytail and Alice Cooper makeup. Oh am embarrassed and I hope I don’t see anyone but it happens. I don’t know what has caused this shift : laziness, age, kids, life, time, etc. Either way I have declared October “Operation Bombshell” Month.
What is Operation Bombshell Month, you ask?
It is where I am consciously going to put an extra effort into myself. I am going to give myself enough time each day to put on my makeup properly. I am going to wash my hair and style it (no Ponytails) everyday. I am going to plan my wardrobe and just maybe change my outfit twice in one day just because. Basically, I am going to put my looks back on the front burner of life and rock my style.
Here’s the plan:
I am going to play up my curves with a great push up bra from VS. Then I am going shopping for a few trendy Items, nothing expensive, just a few hip styles to bring me current and a new purse that is not missing half of its Bling.
I am going to dust of my heels and put my flip flops away. May have to practice, it has been awhile since I walked with a little height.
I am going to add color to my wardrobe, black should not be the only color on my color wheel. I am going to add jewelry, accessories and perfume. They will smell me a mile away
But most importantly, I am going to be confident and excited to go out into the world with style. It may take a little more effort but it will make a world of difference in my attitude. Yes, I am busy and yes I am always running behind, but girl we are worth it and hotness should never be compromised, Never!
So join me in getting hot this October and tell me what makes you feel like a Bombshell!
What’s your Makeup Secrets?
Posted: 18th September 2011 by Sandi in Hot MammaTags: Beauty Tips, Makeup, Skin Care, Tips, Womens Health, Youthful Face
Women are always looking for the fountain of youth, usually in a bottle of makeup. So what are the tricks to achieving a youthful look no matter your age.
By trying these makeup tips you will feel younger and moreyouthful.
Tip 1: Don’t always follow the trends. What may work in our 20′s may not work in our 30′s & 40′s. A trusted makeup artist is key, I suggest going to a department store and talking with the makeup artist, don’t buy anything and talk to different brand reps get a feel for the trends and advice then schedule a free makeover to try some of their suggestions out.
Tip 2: I first apply my lipstick and then I place a small amount of Gloss in the middle of my lips, this gives a sexy, youthful appearance. I use lighter colors such as pink, mauve and other light colors with a light tint gloss of a similar color.
Tip3: Curl your Lashes, use lash boosters, then finish with Mascara . By curling your eyelashes, this will help lift sagging eyelids. Applying Lash boosters makes the eyelashes appear thicker giving a more youthful appearance.
Tip4: Foundation, that’s tricky! Make sure you go for medium coverage and include moisturizer to avoid drying out the skin. Go a shade lighter than your natural color to avoid seeing lines. Use a good quality makeup brush for applying your foundation to avoid getting bacteria in your foundation which will eventually cause breakouts.
Tip 5: Use loose powder only in the corners and under your eyes to diminish dark circles and patches. Find a powder that is lighter than your skin tone with a yellow tint
which helps color correct the area getting rid of shadows, redness, and illuminating the darker area giving a lighter youthful look.
Tip 6: Brighten up your eyes baby! Move away from safe colors like browns and go for a little shimmer. Use colors that complement your eyes and that provide a bit of a contrast. This doesn’t mean bring back the bright blue eye shadows of the 80′s.
Tip 7: Wear Eye liner. By using a brown or black eye liner on the upper lid will instantly lift your eyes. By angling the line at 45-degree angle, this will lift sagging eyes. Avoid light color eyeliners or bright colors like blue, very few of us look good and most of the time the eyes end up looking smaller. What you want are eyes that look open and
pop!
Tip 8: Try wearing blush in a cream color on the apples of your cheeks, this will give an appearance of a youthful glow .
Tip 9: Clean your face each night to remove dirt and makeup from the day. This process helps remove dead cells, helping to rejuvenate new youthful ones. Adding moisture prevents wrinkles and a well hydrated face is a youthful one.
Tip 10: See a Dermatologist for routine screening for sun damage. Your Dermatologist will also help you develop a plan to maintain your skin and will provide options as you age to minimize the aging process.
These are my secret weapons in maintaining a youthful face and appearance. What’s yours, please share your secrets for a youthful glow!
What makes a hot Cowgirl? Her clothes of course! This season Cowgirl apparel is in and this T-Shirt has it all. Wear this around the house with just your boots or take it out on the town. This Tee will get you noticed.
$19.95
Start today by taking inventory on what you do everyday to your body or don’t do. Then agree to make one change a week. For example if you go to bed every night without removing your makeup and washing your face then make that your weeks goal. “I will remove my makeup and wash my face before bed every night for one week” or “I will exfoliate once a week to get rid of dry skin” Every week add a new change and before you know it you are becoming a healthier you!
Here is a great exfoliate with a southwestern flair
Lavender Pinon Body Scrub
½ cup raw sugar
¼ cup walnut oil
1tab. Pinon Nuts, chopped fine
1 tsp. of dried untreated Lavender or lavender oil
Stir together all ingredients until well mixed. Place in a sealed jar and use as a body scrub in shower. Damp a washcloth and a small amount of scrub using circular motions over body to remove dead skins, rinse.
Note Pinon seeds (pine nuts) are found in New Mexico and can be purchased online or in some specialty grocery stores. Hatch Chili Express has New Mexico products http://www.hatch-chile.com/default.asp

to get on. Then he pushed the button and off we went. When the door opened he repeated the same, he held the door so the door did not close on them as they exited. They did not say a word to him for his kindness, which was fine, no big deal. However, they saved the big deal for later.
After hours of shopping we went to the food court to eat lunch and after I went to the restroom. My son waited in the hall. While he was waiting for me the same family from the elevator passed him and their son recognized my son
and said “Hi”. The father begins scolding his son for speaking to mine. He said things like “Don’t you talk to him, he is bad” and made comments he was a skater and maybe on drugs. When my son told me I could not believe it and he
was obviously hurt by it.
Skateboarding is not a bad influence on our youth, bad people are a bad influence on our youth and they do not discriminate as to what type of kid they want to influence. Skateboarding actually is a very good influence. It teaches
them perseverance; it challenges them and keeps them active.
Not to mention skateboarding is a professional sport with endorsements and fame just like basketball or football.
Now I know Skateboarding has been associated with drugs and alcohol for many years and it can be a pretty tough crowd. I have attended skate competitions and I have met all types of interesting and scary people. But I really believe that bad influences exist in every social class and group. I believe with today’s pressures any kid can fall to the hands of drugs and alcohol.
I bet you did not know that there are several wonderful pro skaters out there providing our kids great role models and encouraging them to make a difference? Tony Hawk is a family man and supports numerous charities. Paul Rodriquez Jr. is religious and donates skateboards to cancer charities. Jereme Rogers is religious and promotes spreading the word of god. RyanSheckler donates to a variety of charities supporting children and athletes. There are many more skaters making a difference.
My point is this, before assuming all long hair skaters are out to steal your soul, take a closer look. You may find a nice young man who is willing to hold a door for you, give his seat up on a crowed bus or help an elderly
neighbor. With all kids the key is taking the time to be involved, know their friends and don’t be afraid to investigate. Set clear guidelines and expectations and hold them accountable for their actions.
Again I am a proud mother of a drug & alcohol free Skater!
